HOW DO I BECOME A TEAM LIGHT MEMBER?
The discipleship, Christ calls us to, is costly. It takes time as well as commitment. Light of the World is dedicated to working as a local body to grow and develop together into the level of discipleship scriptures call us to.
So that you may know the mission and vision of Light of the World and have a clear understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Christ, we ask you to attend a class called Discovering Light of the World. Discovering Light of the World consists of one three-hour class that is very informal and offered on a Sunday after church and at other times when needed. This class teaches the meaning and purpose of church and what it means to walk with Christ. There's time for Q & A as well.
After completing this class, you will be given a covenant card to take home to prayerfully read and consider. If you decide you would like to become a Team Light member on the journey with Light of the World, we ask that you sign the covenant card and return it to the pastor. The covenant card clearly explains the expectations of what it means to become a Team Light member. Through signing the covenant card you are saying:
- With God as my helper, I will be a follower of Jesus Christ.
- I will support Light of the World with my prayers.
- I will be involved in a small group. This gives you an opportunity to connect with others AND grow in your spiritual journey.
- I will support Light of the World with my presence - I will regularly and faithfully be present on a weekly basis.
- I will financially support the ministries of Light of the World by contributing on a regular basis. I will indicate the amount I intend to begin giving, and aim to continue growing in the joy of giving.
- I will support Light of the World with my service - I will be a servant involved in one of the ministry areas of Light of the World. Just as important as giving is the need to become involved in a specific ministry where you can grow and give of yourself in some way.
Light of the World wants you to know that we understand that becoming a disciple is a process and a journey. We are all on the road to illumination in Christ with expectations of increasing in knowledge and wisdom as well as growing spiritually. Although we want to strive to reach our goal, the reality is we probably will not until meeting Christ in the eternal hereafter. No one at Light of the World claims to be perfect (or even close to it!) The journey, however, does take seriousness and commitment.
Light of the World's goal is to be with you for the journey whether or not you decide to join Team Light.
Sign up for the next "Pizza with the Pastor" or "Discovering Light of the World" class.
