 Mission & Vision

MISSION STATEMENT: Why do we exist as a church?
Light of the World exists primarily to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
With that in mind our mission is to help ourselves and others...

  • Come to Christ
  • Grow like Christ
  • Serve for Christ

OUR VISION / STRATEGY: How will we fulfill our mission?

Back to Top WE ARE COMMITTED TO BE A COMMUNITY THAT IS…

GOD CENTERED: It is Light of the World’s desire to be obedient to God by acknowledging the Lord constantly, seeking always to know God’s will for our lives, and constantly giving the Lord worship and honor. By doing this we are able to receive God’s abundant love and share that love with all of God’s children.

† Glorify God in all things.
† Prayer is the heart of all we do.
† Have a team of intercessory pray-ers for worship, individual prayer concerns, and the church as a whole.
† Establish a prayer room where people can go anytime for meditation and prayer.
† Worship in a relaxed, exciting, life touching, scripturally based, and culturally relevant atmosphere.

SCRIPTURALLY BASED: Light of the World believes that the study of God’s Word is essential to a Christ-centered life. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is inspired of God and is useful for teaching - for reproof, correction and training in holiness.” Light of the World believes that we discover what a Christ-centered life means through personal and corporate Bible study. Light of the World also believes that we must teach our children the Bible in order to equip them to become disciples in mission. Light of the World believes that all Christians need involvement in small community groups where people can learn the Bible and support and nurture one another.

† Help people understand all that becoming a disciple of Christ means through biblically based large group studies.
† Have small groups where people can study the Bible together in a relaxed and nonjudgmental atmosphere that nurtures spirituality and our relationship with Christ.
† Have a children’s ministry that is exciting, fun, and teaches the Bible.
† Have a youth ministry where youth study the Bible and grow in Christ in an exciting, life touching atmosphere.
† Sermons relating the content of the Bible to relevant topics and issues.

MISSION ORIENTED: Our obedience to God’s grace is a joyful response expressed by faith in action. As a church we are committed to servant evangelism, caring for the poor and those in need, and sharing God’s love within and outside the church walls through service in our community and world.

† Provide training on recognizing and utilizing spiritual gifts.
† Provide opportunities for servant evangelism that touches the community on a continual basis.
† Build a network of support groups for those encountering life’s struggles and pain.
† Build a deliberate mission of reaching people who do not attend church regularly.
† Participate in “hands-on” outreach projects, locally and around the world
† Be involved in community opportunities to share God’s love with a hurting world.

SHARING GOD’S LOVE WITH ALL: Light of the World believes that as God’s church, all people deserve to be welcomed into the fellowship of God’s love and grace as affirmed in John 13:34-35, “A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Jesus’ commandment will be lived out at Light of the World through radiating the love of Christ to people we meet by unconditionally loving them into a relationship with Jesus Christ through hospitality and acts of service and kindness.

† Provide training on sharing our faith with a hurting world.
† Provide “radical hospitality” to all who come into contact with Light of the World.
† Establish a “Care-corps” to reach out to the hurting, ill, and struggling within and outside the church family
† Host workshops, retreats, and seminars that involve the community and touch people where they are.
† Be deliberate about accepting all people, just as they are, without regard to race,
gender, age, or lifestyle.
